The other very noticeable anomaly is there are no trees on the tundra and yet you can see the beach is littered with huge logs that apparently are from Russia and Siberia. We found out that we were only about 50 miles from Russia and about 150 miles from Siberia. The drift wood is beautiful but with all the wood debris the trip from Nome to camp took about an hour and 20 minutes. These pictures are taken about 9:00PM and you can see it is very light out. More beach front property. I think we were all surprised. After shack after shack we all looked at this one and said, "wow, this is a nice one."
